Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart celebrates its 60th anniversary this Saturday, and in honor of the occasion, the magazine has compiled the “All-Time Top 600 Songs” list, based on how well the tunes did on the chart and how long they spent on the tally. The single that came in at #1 on the list is the same one that topped similar lists Billboard put together five and 10 years ago: Chubby Checker‘s “The Twist.”

Why is that song, which came out more than 55 years ago, perennially at #1? Because it’s the only tune that topped the Hot 100 twice in two separate chart runs: in 1960 and again in 1962.

A #2 on “All-Time Top 600 Hits” lists is “Smooth” by Santana featuring Rob Thomas, which topped the Hot 100 chart for a whopping 12 weeks beginning in October 1999.  The #3 tune is “Mack the Knife” by Bobby Darin, while Olivia Newton-John‘s “Physical” lands at #10.

Other high-ranking songs on the list by veteran pop and rock artists include Debby Boone‘s “You Light Up My Life” at #11, The Beatles‘ “Hey Jude” at #12, Mariah Carey‘s “We Belong Together” at #14, Kim Carnes‘ “Bette Davis Eyes” at #17, Diana Ross & Lionel Richie‘s “Endless Love” at #18, and Rod Stewart‘s “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)” at #19.

Meanwhile, Billboard also compiled a list of the “Top Artists of All Time” on the Hot 100, looking at the music acts that enjoyed the most overall success on the top 100. The Beatles are #1 at this tally, followed by Madonna at #2, Elton John at #3, Elvis Presley at #4 and Mariah at #5.
