A 19-year-old Mountain Home man, Kendall Nodine, entered a guilty plea to charges of providing a gun to a minor later used in shooting and wounding another juvenile.

Nodine was sentenced to six years probation during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

According to investigators, Nodine admitted to taking a .22 caliber handgun belonging to his grandfather and giving it to a 16-year-old male as collateral on a loan of less than $20.

The 16-year-old and a 13-year-old said they had taken the weapon out to target practice. During an exchange of the handgun between the two juveniles, it went off, striking the 13-year-old in the shoulder, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Nodine’s charges included furnishing a deadly weapon to a minor.

Nodine was sentenced under the provisions of Act 346, meaning if he stays out of trouble during his probation period, he can apply to the court to have his record sealed.

Judge Gordon Webb said Nodine should take advantage of the second chance he was being given. He said Nodine was very young to carry a felony conviction around for the rest of his life, but that could happen if he violates the terms and conditions of his Act 346 probation.
