Warner Bros.Cher has now released full details of her upcoming ABBA tribute album.
Appropriately titled Dancing Queen, the disc will arrive September 28. If you pre-order the album, you’ll get an instant download of Cher’s version of “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” immediately.
In a statement about the project, Cher says, “I’ve always liked ABBA and saw the original Mamma Mia musical on Broadway three times. After filming Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, I was reminded again of what great and timeless songs they wrote and started thinking, ‘Why not do an album of their music?'”
She adds, “The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I’m so happy with how the music came out. I’m really excited for people to hear it. It’s a perfect time.”
The album is just the latest project for Cher, who also has the musical based on her life, The Cher Show, coming to Broadway on December 3. She’ll tour Australia and New Zealand in September, and has an ongoing residency at MGM Resorts. On top of all that, she’ll receive a Kennedy Center Honor on December 2 in Washington, D.C.
