The group consists of Weir on vocals and electric and acoustic guitar, acclaimed producer Don Was on bass, and Jay Lane, a longtime member of Bob’s band RatDog, on drums.

The trek currently features 22 dates, kicking off October 16 in Reno, Nevada, and running through a November 18-19 engagement at New York City’s Beacon Theatre. The outing also includes two-show stands in Chicago; Port Chester, New York; and Boston.

Weir says the Wolf Bros project first came together in the spring of 2015 when Don Was visited Bob’s TRI Studios in San Rafael, California, and helped “piece together” the Grateful Dead spinoff group Dead & Company.

“For a while now I’ve been itchin’ to explore our songs in a trio setting. An upright bass, my acoustic or electric guitar and a drummer,” explains Weir. “We did some rehearsals this past spring and it was big fun — and that’s the whole idea. We were kickin’ around Dead songs as well as tunes from my back pages. I’m pretty sure we’re gonna have a big adventure with this.”

Prior to Weir’s tour with Wolf Bros, Weir has two headlining performances with Dead & Company at the 2018 Lockn’ Festival on August 25 and 26 in Arrington, Virginia.

He’ll also be a special guest at the Sound Summit 2018: A Benefit for The Mountain event on September 8 in Mill Valley, California, and will be playing with his RatDog band mate Steve Kimock and other musicians on September 23 at the Sweetwater in the Sun concert in Novato, California.
