The city of Diamond City is looking for a new mayor.

KY3 of Springfield reports Jan Hudson has announced her resignation. Prosecutors charged Hudson with felony theft back in May. Prosecutors say she spent thousands of dollars in community center funds for her personal gain. Punishment for a Class D felony under Arkansas law can result in a sentence of imprisonment of no more than six years and a fine no greater than $10,000.

Mayor Jan Hudson was also treasurer of the Diamond City community center from 2015 to 2016. A recent legislative audit uncovered a shortage of $4,500 in community center funds during that time.

The city council will consider appointing a new mayor at the next meeting.
