Andrew Beyer, who brought methamphetamine into the Baxter County jail when he returned from a court-sanctioned furlough, was back in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Beyer was sentenced to five years in the state prison on the charges now filed against him.

In late May, Beyer appeared before Judge Gordon Webb and pled guilty to a number of drug-related charges. He was sentenced to six years probation and ordered to spend two years in one of the Community Corrections Centers in the state designed to help him deal with addiction problems.

During an earlier appearance in court, Beyer requested a furlough to allow him to retrieve personal property from a friend’s house and transfer it to his sister’s residence before leaving for his time in the Community Corrections Center.

A reluctant Judge Webb granted the request and ordered Beyer be granted a daylong furlough from jail. When Beyer returned to the jail as ordered, he was found to have concealed methamphetamine in a body orifice. Beyer is also alleged to have shared the drug with another inmate assigned to his cell.

New charges of furnishing a prohibited article were filed against him based on the methamphetamine incident at the jail.

Beyer was arrested on the charges which initially brought him to court in January after the car he was driving was stopped by a Mountain Home Police officer. During the stop, a female passenger exited the vehicle and entered a convenience store. Beyer then sped off hitting another vehicle. The officer gave chase until Beyer’s vehicle eventually hit a curb disabling it. Beyer then attempted to flee on foot. The officer reported having to use a Taser to bring him under control.

Several drug-related items were found, including about 160 grams of marijuana, a substance field-testing positive for methamphetamine, Hydrocodone pills and digital scales.

Beyer was arrested after another traffic stop in early February in the Midway area. He fled on foot during that stop. He was apprehended, and methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.

Beyer has been booked into the Baxter County jail 12 times since 2015.
