A Baxter County woman, 22-year-old Courtney Ragland of Mountain Home, was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center early Thursday morning on felony forgery charges in connection with a purse reported missing in February.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Baxter County Sheriff’s investigators were advised the purse disappeared after the victim had been at two establishments.
Checking her on-line account for her debit card, the victim discovered it had been used at a local business where video surveillance cameras captured the image of a male and female couple in their mid-20s.
The images were posted on the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office website and other social media platforms, resulting in numerous responses naming the two individuals. Officers from the Baxter County District Court Probation Office, Arkansas Probation and Parole and Baxter County Juvenile Services were among those making positive identifications of the pair.
In addition to three felony counts, Ragland is charged with misdemeanor counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, theft of property and attempted theft of property. Her bond has been set at $2,500.
