Mountain Home opens football season with loss to Sheridan

The Mountain Home High School football team opened its season Thursday night against Sheridan at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. Brad Haworth has details of the game.

Sheridan broke a 7-7 tie by erupting for 27 points in a span of 10:47 over the second and third quarters to post a 34-7 win over the Bombers. The Yellowjackets scored a touchdown with 1:27 left in the first half to really shift the momentum and took a 14-7 lead into the lockeroom. Sheridan then opened the second half by returning the opening kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown. Montana Korte would then add a pair of touchdown runs.

Sheridan scored on their first possession of the night before Mountain Home answered with a very impressive 18 play, 65 yard drive that included a pair of fourth down conversions, that ended with Junior Williams scoring from one yard out.

With the win, Sheridan snapped a 19-game losing streak dating back over two seasons.

Mountain Home will look to regroup when they play at Harrison next Friday night.
