
A West Plains teenager was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle accident in Howell County. Fifteen-year-old Stetson Hutchinson was transported by ambulance from the scene 5 miles south of West Plains and pronounced dead at Ozarks Medical Center’s emergency room.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Hutchinson was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Stacy Hutchinson of West Plains. The vehicle slowed to make a left turn and was struck in the rear by a pickup truck driven by 50-year-old Billy Poe of Pocahontas. Stacy Hutchinson was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with moderate injuries. Another passenger, 16-year-old Tristan Hutchinson of West Plains, was flown to St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro with minor injuries. Poe was not injured.
Both vehicles were totaled in the 4:18 p.m. accident. It was Troop G’s 27th fatality of the year compared to 15 at the same time in 2017.
