A recount in a local race from Missouri’s primary election resulted in the winner picking up an extra two votes. Incumbent John Garrabrant was declared the winner of the Republican nomination for the Ozark County prosecuting attorney’s office after beating challenger John Russo August 7th.

According to Ozark County Clerk Brian Wise, the recount showed Garrabrant receiving 1,073 votes. The original count was 1,071 on election night. Russo’s vote total remained unchanged at 1,063. Wise was issued an order by the court on August 14th to conduct the recount after a petition was filed by Russo.

Wise says no one else will be on the ballot with Garrabrant in the upcoming general election in November, although there are opportunities for write-in candidates.
