
The Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday evening at 6:00 in the Knox Room of the Donald W. Reynolds Library. The topic of discussion will be book titled “Old Galatia Church, Preserving Our Past” by Linda Bradbury.
Bradbury was born near the church and cemetery and currently lives near the church. She says she put her book together as an attempt to raise funds to restore the building. The church was approved for placement on the Arkansas Register for Historic Places.
The book has the history of the beginning of the cemetery and church with several pictures of local people buried in the Galatia Cemetery. The book is $30, and the cost if $35 if it’s mailed. Books will be for sale during Tuesday night’s meeting, and anyone wanting a copy can contact Bradbury at 870-499-7148.
The Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society meets the fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings are free and open to the public.
