Five people suspected in numerous thefts in Lakeview have been charged, with four taken into custody and a fifth still at large.

Lakeview Police Chief Dave Hotchkiss says the arrests follow his department receiving intelligence information developed by the Gassville Police Department.

On July 16th, Lakeview officers responded to nine separate reported thefts to motor vehicles within the City of Lakeview. Reports indicated numerous items were taken from the vehicles.

On July 19th, Lakeview officers were contacted by members of the Gassville Police Department to inquire about recent thefts. Chief Hotchkiss discovered many of the items stolen in the Lakeview thefts had been recovered by Gassville Police.

Gassville Police Captain Everett Uchtman had arrested 24-year-old Tyler Rivera of Flippin July 18th and had recovered some of the items reported stolen in the Lakeview incidents. Capt. Uchtman subsequently obtained a search warrant for Rivera’s cell phone.

Capt. Uchtman shared the information he obtained from the phone records and developed credible information leading to a residence in Flippin where Rivera had been staying. With assistance from the Flippin and Bull Shoals police departments, numerous stolen items related to the Lakeview thefts were recovered at the residence.

Intelligence information, physical evidence and information obtained from the cell phone search warrant led to the arrest of Drew Smith of Conway, whose age was not available. Officers learned Smith was on probation with a signed search waiver on file. Lakeview Police officers traveled to Conway, where, assisted by members of the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas Department of Probation and Parole, they went to Smith’’s home and took him into custody. A search of his residence led to several items stolen from the thefts reported in the City of Lakeview. As part of this investigation, a handgun stolen at a residence in Baxter County was also located.

Further information obtained during the review of Rivera’s cell phone records has led to the arrests of Morgan Neal and 18-year-old Amanda Hannah, both of Flippin. Neal’s ages was not available. A fifth suspect remains at large.

Online information from the Baxter County Detention Center indicates Rivera is charged with a felony count of theft of property, along with breaking or entering a building structure, and a parole violation, as well as several misdemeanor counts. Specific charges for the other three suspects were not available.
