JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has appointed a local
school board president and a former technical college president to the state’s
K-12 education board.

Parson’s Thursday appointments will mean seven of eight seats on the
once-embattled State Board of Education are filled.

The board could not meet for months this year after a standoff between
lawmakers and former Republican Gov. Eric Greitens left the group without enough
members for a quorum.

Since Greitens’ June resignation, the new governor has appointed four board
members.

Parson’s latest appointees are Raymore resident Kim Bailey and Linn resident
Don Claycomb.

Bailey is president of the Raymore Peculiar School Board and is an adjunct
professor at Calvary University.

Claycomb retired as president of the State Technical College of Missouri in
2016.

Appointees need state Senate confirmation.
