Customers of the Ozark Mountain Regional Public Water Authority are being asked to conserve water after a lightning strike has shutdown the water pipeline.

KYTV reports the lightning strike knocked out the controls that pump water from Bull Shoals Lake, purify the water and distribute it. Millions of gallons of water are sent daily to 18 systems in Marion, Boone, Searcy and Newton counties.

Board Chairman Andy Anderson says it will take a while to get repairs finished and customers need to conserve water until repairs are done. He says supply tanks for the 18 water systems are mostly full at this time but there is no way fill to the tanks until the damage is fixed.

The Ozark Mountain Regional Public Water Authority serves 20,000 homes and businesses.
