Asylum/Warner Bros.Following the news that The Eagles’ best-of, Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, has been officially declared the best-selling album of all time — with 38 million units sold — the album has flown up the Billboard 200 Album chart, jumping from #125 to #60.

As for the album that The Eagles’ compilation surpassed, that’s made a move as well.

Michael Jackson‘s Thriller, which used to hold the “best-selling album of all time” title, was been certified for 33 million copies last year.  It’s now jumped back onto the album chart — from which its been absent since May — at #135.

The increased sales could be seen as either a reaction to the news that Thriller had been out-sold by the Eagles, or a celebration of Michael’s 60th birthday on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another pop legend has scored his 56th entry on the album chart: Neil Diamond, whose new album Hot August Night III debuts at #144.  The original, 1972’s Hot August Night, reached #5.
