MH football team hosts Nettleton to end non-conference play

It’s week three of the high school football season in Arkansas, and non-conference play comes to an end for Mountain Home. The Bombers will play their home opener as they welcome Nettleton the Twin Lakes Area.
Mountain Home is currently 0-2 on the season. The Bombers fell at Harrison a week ago. Nettleton’s record stands at 2-0. The Raiders began their current four-game road stand last week by shutting out Pocahontas.
Mountain Home head coach Bryan Mattox says his team is ready to finally play a game at Bomber Stadium.

Kickoff at Bomber Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. Coverage begins around 5:30 with the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas High School Gameday.

Yellville-Summit will also play their home opener on Friday. The Panthers’ week two opponent will be Salem.
Both teams are 1-0 on the year. Yellville-Summit started its season last week with a win at Green Forest, and the Greyhounds began on their home turf by shutting out Mountain View.
Panthers’ head coach Lucas Morris says sound defense will be key particularly when trying to contain Salem running back Jordan Turner.

Kickoff at Panther Field is set for 7:00.

Elsewhere on the local Arkansas schedule, Melbourne hosts Cave City, Marshall entertains Mayflower, and Harrison travels to Siloam Springs.

There is one matchup between teams ranked in the Arkansas Sports Media top ten. Ninth-ranked Greenwood will make the short trip to Fort Smith to take on Southside.

This week is the third of the season in Missouri. Among area schools, West Plains is home against Camdenton, Hollister hosts Springfield Catholic, Forsyth heads to Greenfield, Branson travels to Ozark, Ava entertains Mountain Grove, Willow Springs makes the trip to Cabool, and Mountain View-Liberty is home against Thayer.
