A Mountain Home man is accused of breaking into a houseboat at a local marina. According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, 34-year-old Christopher Alsup was arrested Friday morning on multiple felony counts and a misdemeanor, and he remains in the Baxter County Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond.

A deputy was dispatched to Jordan Marina on a complaint of someone being inside a houseboat without the owner’s permission. The marina’s manager reportedly confirmed with the owner no one should have been on board.

When the deputy entered the houseboat, a stereo was playing, the lights were on, and dirty dishes and open food containers were located. The deputy entered the bedroom and encountered two individuals asleep on the bed. The deputy woke the individuals and identified them as Alsup and Kora Hardy. Alsup was taken into custody after allegedly admitting he and Hardy had lived in the houseboat for a couple of days. Drug paraphernalia, including a syringe, was located in both individuals’ personal belongings.

After Alsup was booked into the detention center, the marina manager again contacted the sheriff’s office reportedly finding video footage of Alsup and Hardy taking a ski boat from the dock and going out on the lake. The boat was later returned to its stall. The owner of the ski boat reportedly said he did not give anyone permission or consent to use it.

Alsup faces felony counts of residential burglary, theft of property, criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor count of theft of property. He is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court later this month.

Sheriff Montgomery says he anticipates similar charges will be filed against Hardy at a later time. She is currently not in custody.
