Lee Euler III of Mountain Home appeared during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and pled guilty to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm — ironically, it was the same gun he used to shoot himself in the head, according to court records.

On March 21st, Euler is reported to have called the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office to report he had shot himself. Investigators found Euler seated in a vehicle parked on a side trail in a wooded area between Denton Ferry Road and the White River.

The .25 caliber handgun he used was found in the vehicle.

In the probable cause affidavit, the 38-year-old Euler was reported to have suffered a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the back of his head. At the time of the incident, Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery termed the wound “superficial.”

Euler was airlifted to a Springfield hospital for treatment.

At the time of the shooting, Euler had been reported missing by a colleague at his place of employment. He was said to have left for lunch and had not been seen for two days. Earlier on the day he was found shot, Euler had been officially listed as a missing person by the Mountain Home Police Department.

According to court records, Euler has a felony conviction in Illinois, making it illegal for him to own or be in contact with firearms.

Euler was given two years probation.
