A pair of bizarre incidents have left officers with the Ozark county Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol scratching their heads.
According to the Ozark County Times, the first incident, which occurred on September 4th, involved a reported boat burglar on Bull Shoals Lake near the Spring Creek boat ramp. The call to the sheriffs office reported a woman in a boat was found with two kayaks, an aluminum row boat and a large amount of other property.
An Ozark County Sheriffs deputy and a Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division officer were dispatched to the scene, and the incident ended in the woman’s arrest after officers were informed she had an active warrant from St. Clair County.
An investigation is ongoing and charges have not yet been filed. However, law enforcement has confirmed the woman arrested is suspected of taking the stolen property.
In the second incident, an Ozark County Sheriffs Department jailer ended up handcuffing a man to a bench following the man’s attempt to break into the secured jail facility on September 7th.
Forty-five-year-old Ronald Eveland of Webb City is being held in the Ozark County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond and is charged with assault to a special victim in connection with the incident.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, the jailer was helping a person in the lobby of the jail when Eveland entered the building shouting loudly and incoherently.
As the jailer was attempting to decipher what Eveland was trying to say, Eveland reportedly dashed forward and grabbed the jailer on both shoulders in an attempt to push past and get into the secure part of the jail facility.
The jailer grabbed Eveland and quickly put the man in an arm restraint, walking him over to the booking area of the jail. The jailer detained Eveland by handcuffing him to a bench.
According to court documents, Eveland admitted he had used methamphetamine prior to the incident.
