MHJH football teams split at Batesville Southside

Mountain Home went on the road and split a pair of junior high football games at Southside Batesville Monday evening.

The Eighth Grade Bombers topped the Eighth Grade Southerners by a final of 22-12. Colby Lockhart led Mountain Home with 103 rushing yards and a touchdown, and Dillon Drewry added 84 yards on the ground with a score. The Eighth Grade Bombers’ other touchdown came on a fumble recovery by Tristan Hayes. Blake Bentley recovered another fumble, and Houston Roberson recorded an interception for a total of three takeaways for the Mountain Home defense.

The Seventh Grade Bombers did not fare as well as they fell to Southside 16-8. Southside scored the game winning touchdown with 24 seconds left in the game. Mountain Home’s only score came in the second half on a 45-yard pass play from Cade Yates to Landon Haynes.
