Kevin Mazur/WireImageDid Cher just reignite her old Madonna feud?
With one seemingly shady dig at the Queen of Pop, Cher got rumors flowing again. During her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Monday, she was asked during a game called “5 Second Rule” to name three celebrities she’d want to duet with.
“Oh! Adele, Pink and…uh, um — not Madonna,” Cher said, bending the rules a bit.
As the audience reacted in surprise, Ellen responded, “Well, all right, Ms. Negative!” To which Cher coyly asked, “Did I cheat?”
When Ellen informed her that yes, she did in fact cheat, Cher said, “I took a little license.”
Up until now, it seemed that the Cher/Madonna beef had been squashed. Cher first expressed her dislike for Madonna back in the ’90s.
“There’s something about her that I don’t like. She’s mean, and I don’t like that,” Cher said in a 1991 interview with Steve Kmetko. “I remember having her over to my house a couple of times because Sean [Penn, Madonna’s ex-husband] and I were friends, and she just was so rude to everybody.”
But then in 2013, on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Cher indicated things were fine between the two.
“I’m totally good with Madonna!” she insisted. “Madge and I have gone through our thing, but no, I’m totally good with her.”
