The Spaldings grew up in Kentucky – Jamie in Owensboro and Jay in Louisville – where they met as teenagers at a Salvation Army summer camp. They attended Salvation Army Seminary in Atlanta together and were sent to their first post in Houston right out of school.

They were stationed in Mountain Home in July of 2015, following the transfer of Major Johnny Poff.
