The Pine Bluff football team was without their injured starting quarterback Friday night but didn’t miss a beat in their win over Mountain Home. Brad Haworth has the details.
Listen:
Tyler Foots was injured last week against Sylvan Hills and did not play Friday night, but the Zebras didn’t miss a beat in a 35-9 win over the Bombers. Foots’ fill-in, Shaun Howell, tossed five first half touchdown passes, including three to Bekarion Black who caught scoring strikes from 66, 20 and 16 yards out. Powell also hooked up with Caleb Sloan on a 22 yard scoring strike and Isaih Mayes from nine yards out.
Pine Bluff scored all 35 of their points in the first half, but Mountain Home was able to put some points on the board in the third quarter. The Zebras’ second snap out of the shotgun formation went over the quarterback’s head and into the endzone where he fell on it and was tackled there for a safety. The Bombers other score came when Lawson Stockon, playing QB for the injured Dawson Tabor, scored on a 14-yard run.
The Bombers fall to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the 6A East Conference while Pine Bluff is now 2-2-1 and 2-0. Mountain Home hosts Jacksonville next Friday night for homecoming.
