Rebecca Ann Wallace, who was identified as being involved in a rather strange incident starting when a Mountain Home woman returned to her residence to find a large quantity of someone’s personal belongings on her front porch, appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court last week.
The 37-year-old Wallace, who lists a Gassville address, entered a plea of not guilty to the charges against her stemming from the incident, including aggravated assault and third-degree battery. She has been released from jail on her own recognizance and told to return to circuit court Nov. 29th.
On Sept. 3rd, a woman advised the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office she had returned to her home along Chaperal Drive and found the property on her front porch and asked for assistance in determining who owned it.
It was determined the owner was 38-year-old Bryan Rocap of Flippin. The Mountain Home woman told investigators she was acquainted with Rocap, but had no idea why his property would be on her front porch.
The following morning, the woman called law enforcement again to say a friend of hers had driven by her residence and had seen a vehicle with two occupants in the driveway. The friend had prior knowledge of the mysterious property found on the porch and pulled into the driveway behind a green SUV with New Mexico tags to investigate.
At that point, Wallace is alleged to have gotten out of the SUV and approached the friend, saying she knew the homeowner who was aware of her presence. As she told the story, she is reported to have become more and more irate.
Wallace was not aware the friend was on the phone with the homeowner, who was advising no one should be at her residence. The two women ended their conversation and the homeowner’s friend contacted the sheriff’s office.
When officers arrived at the residence, the homeowner’s friend told them Wallace had threatened her and struck her van with a baseball bat. The male driver of the SUV backed his vehicle into the friend’s van pushing it backward.
Rocap and Wallace were reported to have fled in their vehicle prior to deputies arriving.
Deputies noticed blood on the female victim’s legs resulting from flying glass inside her vehicle when the bat wielded by Wallace struck the windshield. In addition to a broken windshield, there were dings in the doorpost of the driver’s side door and minor damage to the bumper where the SUV had pushed it.
The victim was able to take video using her phone showing the male subject in the SUV. He was later identified as Rocap, the same person who owned the property left on the homeowner’s porch.
Rocap has also entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him stemming from the incident, including third-degree battery, criminal mischief and criminal trespass. He remains in the Baxter County jail with bond set at just under $3,000.
Wallace has more serious charges filed against her because she wielded the bat during the attack on the homeowner’s friend’s vehicle.
