
High school tennis makes up much of the local Monday schedule as state tournaments begin across Arkansas.
Six Mountain Home athletes will take part in the Class 5A State Tournament co-hosted by Hot Springs Lakeside and Lake Hamilton at the Hot Springs Country Club. On the girls’ singles bracket, Meagan Beck meets Alex Trudell of Benton, and Emily Heide faces Sara Leder of White Hall. Sarah Godfrey and Micaela McLean will represent the Lady Bombers in the girls’ doubles competition as they take on Isabella Calhoun and Marion Nutt of Lakeside. In the boys’ doubles section, Anakin Osgood and Sam Arp will play Christopher Tarkington and Randy Smith of Beebe.
Bergman is the designated host of the Class 3A State Tournament to be held at the Conway Tennis Center. The Lady Panthers will be represented in the girls’ doubles bracket by Hanna Edgar and Kara Ponder as they will be paired with Zoe Humphries and Alexann Long of McGehee. Chris Caricon and A.J. Vanlear will also represent Bergman in boys’ doubles action as they meet Nate Riley and Gavin Vance of Booneville. In the boys’ singles division, Teagan James of Valley Springs faces Savion Phillips of LISA Aacademy.
Harrison will have seven athletes in the Class 4A State Tournament hosted by Pulaski Academy at Burns Park in North Little Rock. Donnie Armstrong will compete in the boys’ singles bracket against Ian Garcia of De Queen. Two Lady Goblins will take part in the girls’ singles division as Elise Bell takes on Cydney Rogers of Valley View, and Claire Doshier will be matched up with Sarah Harrod of Hamburg. On the girls’ doubles bracket, Lindsey Ward and Isabel McNutt will play Kylee Overturf and Lynli Lowry of Arkadelphia, and Camryn Casey and Kylie Anderson will meet Autumn Dyer and Anna Rhodes of Nashville.
