Mountain Home man jailed after allegedly beating pregnant girlfriend
A Mountain Home man is jailed after he allegedly beat and threatened to kill his pregnant girlfriend, while holding her against her will. Twenty-four-year-old Justin William Rogers of Mountain is facing three felonies and a misdemeanor after his girlfriend was able to escape and flag down a passing patrol car.
The arrest affidavit indicates the victim, who is six months’ pregnant with the suspect’s child, was at Rogers’ house with her children Friday night when he became agitated and shoved her against a wall. The victim said she started packing her belongings and as she was trying to leave, Rogers started walking towards her with a large kitchen knife saying “I’m going to kill it, I’m going to kill it,” in reference to the unborn child. The victim said she was able to calm Rogers down, and they agreed to go to bed and discuss the situation in the morning.
The victim says Rogers went to the bathroom and was in there for a long period of time, and when she went to check on him, he was “doing things while looking at the phone.” She told law enforcement she took the phone and went into the bedroom. The victim said Rogers followed her and grabbed her by the throat, punched her in the face and took the phone away. While sitting on top of her, he allegedly started choking her and said “you’re going to die tonight.” The victim said she eventually passed out from the choking. When she awoke, she discovered other injuries to her face and legs.
The victim said after waking up, Rogers attempted to apologize, but when she tried to leave, he would not let her exit the bedroom. She says she waited for Rogers to fall asleep, got her children and left the residence where she saw the patrol car.
Rogers is charged with felony counts of domestic battery in the second degree, aggravated assault on a family or household member and false imprisonment in the first degree, along with a misdemeanor count of interfering with an emergency communication device. He is being held on $50,000 bond.

3rd student in Ozark County allegedly threatens violent activity
For the second time in less than 30 days an Ozark County student has allegedly threatened violent activity towards his school and other students.
The Ozark County Times reports Sheriff Darrin Reed has confirmed a threat was made by a juvenile at Gainesville High School last week.
Sheriff Reed was unable to provide any other details due to the student being under 17 years of age. The call from the school reportedly occurred just before 1:00 p.m. Oct. 3. The sheriff’s call log indicates a kid in office that says he is going to shoot up the school.
The incident follows threats made since February at two other Ozark County high schools in Dora and Bakersfield.
A 17-year-old Dora High School student, Skyler Ledbetter, is being held in the Ozark County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond after a felony count of making a terrorist threat in the second degree was filed against him Sept. 25th.
In addition, 19-year-old Derek Beaver faces a felony count of making a terroristic threat in the first-degree in connection with a February incident in which he allegedly told several fellow Bakersfield School students he was going to bring a gun in and shoot up the school. At the time of the alleged threat, Beaver was a senior at Bakersfield. He appeared before Circuit Judge Craig Carter most recently on Oct. 3; the case was continued until Dec. 5.
Beaver was originally held on a $100,000 cash-only bond, but was released with supervision on Feb. 27th. An April 10th order amended his bond, allowing him to travel to Arkansas for counseling and medical care, and a May 15th condition was added for his GPS monitoring bracelet to be removed allowing Beaver to leave the state for employment.
None of the three students carried out the threats.
Reed told the Times, We need these students to realize that we take every statement seriously. So they need to really think about that when they say things like this. They dont realize just how much it can affect their life – their whole life, not just now.

Local dog attacked, killed by two others
A local woman says her dogs were attacked, with one of them being killed, by two other dogs in Mountain Home. According to KY3, Laura Rouse was walking her two dogs in her neighborhood when a black German Shepherd and a brindle-colored dog attacked her shitzu-mix, ESPN.
Rouse says she tried pepper spray, as well as kicking the attacking dogs, to no avail. It wasn’t until a neighbor shot an unloaded pellet gun Rouse and her dogs were able to get away.
Following her escape, Rouse took her dogs to the vet, where one of the dogs, ESPN, died.
Baxter County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Larry Walters says the office has been involved in attacks at least two or three times. The most recent attacks were in 2016, when investigators said they injured one dog, killed another, and dealt with an attacking involving the biting of an 8-year-old girl.
The owner of the dogs that attacked was issued a citation, and the dogs were quarantined for 10 days.
Rouse says the owner of the two dogs that attacked recently showed her proof the dogs were euthanized. However, Rouse said she’d still like to see a change in Baxter County’s vicious dog ordinance. She said she carried a gun for a little while after the attack, but now carries a Taser.
The owner of the two dogs that attacked is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 11th.
