
The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing Tuesday evening at 5:30 in Jasper to accept comments on its draft decision to deny C&H Hog Farm’s permit application for a Regulation 5 permit.
C&H has become the target of groups that fear the hog farm’s presence is an environmental risk to the Buffalo River. The farm sits along Big Creek, 6 miles from where the creek flows into the Buffalo River.
Tuesday’s public hearing will be held at the Jasper School Cafetorium at 600 School Street. Written and oral comments may be submitted regarding the draft denial to the hearing officer for consideration at the public hearing.

Written comments on the draft denial and requests for information regarding the draft denial may also be submitted to ADEQ, ATTN: C&H Draft Denial at 5301 Northshore Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118, or by email at Water-Draft-Permit-Comment@adeq.state.ar.us.
The decision will be open for public comment until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
After the public hearing and public comment period, ADEQ will issue a final permitting decision. ADEQ will notify the applicant and each person who has submitted written comments or requested notice of the final permitting decision.
Any interested person who has submitted comments within the public comment period may appeal a final decision by ADEQ in accordance with APC&EC Regulation No. 8.
