The Cotter City Council will consider the purchase of a fire truck when it meets Thursday evening at 6:00 for its regular monthly meeting. The consideration of the purchase at $22,500 is the only new business item on the agenda.Cotter Fire Chief Cory Swartz tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news the department is in need of the fire truck to replace an existing one with issues. He says without the replacement, the department could be left short one truck.

Chief Swartz says the fire department has not been able to purchase any equipment for many years, and securing the fire truck would be an opportunity to better the department and the city.

In other business, two old business items are on the agenda for their third reading, updating portions of the municipal code and the requirements for a police department K9 officer. ESI Engineer Tim Mays is scheduled to address the council regarding phase II of the sewer project.

Under the information section of the agenda, reports will be given on a $15,700 grant for the depot building project, the hiring of a part-time police officer, the sale of a mower and a trunk or treat event set for Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Big Spring Park.

The meeting will be held in the council chamber of Cotter City Hall.
