A Howell County man has been charged with 10 counts of first-degree burglary and 10 counts of stealing a firearm after allegedly entering a home on 14 occasions and taking one gun at a time. The West Plains Daily Quill reports a warrant has been issued for 26-year-old Logan Ray Black of Moody, with a bond of $4,500. Black is already facing 16 counts of forgery and four counts of stealing $750 or more related to an incident in which he reportedly forged another person’s name on a store account at Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply, made purchases amounting to about $3,000, then sold or pawned the items for cash.

In the most recent incident, on Sept. 14th a couple from Moody reported the theft of several firearms from their home.

A list of guns and several serial numbers was provided to law enforcement, and an online search of items sold to pawn shops showed several had been sold by Black.

After Black turned himself in, he reportedly admitted to taking the firearms and selling them at a West Plains pawn shop.

According to court records, he told authorities he used a debit card to defeat the door locks each time and took one gun at a time on several different occasions.

Sales records from the pawn shops show Black received at least $3,525 for nine of the firearms. Three of the 14 guns are still reportedly unaccounted for.

In a probable cause statement, a Howell County deputy said based on statements he has heard from several individuals regarding Black and his alleged history of stealing, he feared the Moody man might be seriously injured or killed if caught committing a crime by anyone other than law enforcement. The officer also said Black’s propensity to enter private residences makes him a danger to the community, particularly if a resident were home.

On Jan. 19th, a man reported to the Howell County Sheriff’s Department Black had been using his charge account at Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply to make purchases without his permission over several months.

Black allegedly admitted to using the account to buy numerous items and to forging a signature in a transaction.

He told law enforcement he had sold, pawned or traded most of the items to pay bills, and returned some of items still in his possession.
