An Izard County man, 37-year-old Rodney Glynn Loyd of Guion, has been arrested and charged with a felony count of internet stalking of a child.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Monday, the Izard County Sheriff’s Office was contacted Saturday evening by an investigator from another sheriff’s department. The name of the other law enforcement agency is redacted in the document.

The investigator advised his agency was working child predator cases via the internet, and officers had allegedly been talking with Loyd via a social networking and dating application app called Skout.

The investigator said his department used an officer posing as a 14-year-old female in the exchange with Loyd.

Online case records indicate internet stalking of a child is a class “B” felony if the person attempts to arrange a meeting with an individual the person believes to be 15 years of age or younger, even if a meeting with the individual never takes place.

Loyd’s bond was set at $40,000.
