5 area football teams to advance to playoffs

The postseason will begin Friday for high school football in Arkansas. Five area teams will continue the year by advancing to the playoffs.

Three local teams will represent the 3A-2 in the Class 3A State Playoffs.
Yellville-Summit goes into the postseason as a number four seed. The Panthers will be on the road this week as they meet Danville, the third-seeded team from the 3A-4.
Melbourne will also hit the road for their postseason opener. The Bearkatz are a number three seed, and their first opponent in the playoffs will be Mansfield, the third-seeded team out of the 3A-1.
Mountain View enters the playoffs as a number five seed. The Yellowjackets will head south to face Prescott, the second-seeded team from the 3A-5.

Salem will start off with home field advantage after winning the 2A-3 championship with an undefeated conference record. Salem’s first opponent in the Class 2A State Playoffs will be Dierks, the fifth-seeded team from the 2A-7.

Harrison finished the regular season unbeaten and won the 5A-West title. The Goblins will be at home to begin the Class 5A State Playoffs as they take on White Hall, the number four seed out of the 5A-Central.
