
The races in Stone County had mixed results for both the parties and the incumbents.
Sheriff Lance Bonds will remain in office after garnering 62 percent of the tally. The Democrat defeated Republican challenger Johnny Rose with 38 percent.
Joseph A. Blake will be the new coroner for Stone County. The Republican challenger scored 55 percent of the votes to beat Democratic incumbent Allen Phroper with 45 percent.
Another incumbent Democrat to get beat was District 7 Justice of the Peace Tim Turner. Republican challenger William (Bill) Giberson won the race with 63 percent of the votes. Turner captured 37 percent.
Republican incumbent JP Ronald Clark will continue to represent District 5 after securing 55 percent of the votes. Independent challenger Brian J. McClung garnered 45 percent.
Democrat Rusty Clark was picked to be the District 2 constable after finishing with 53 percent of the votes. Republican Brian Lee Thomas, Jr., fell short with 47 percent.
District 3 Constable Tom Falci was able to avoid a runoff and retain his seat. The independent incumbent ended up with 59 percent of the votes. Democrat Chuck Melton finished second with 31 percent, and Republican Richard W. Sturch IV got ten percent.
A pair of incumbents won both of the city races in Mountain View.
Alderman J.K. Williams will remain in Ward 1, Position 1 with 71 percent of the votes. Challenger Casey McClanahan ended up with 29 percent.
The other incumbent to succeed in Mountain View was City Clerk Peggy Lancaster. She secured 67 percent of the votes to beat challenger Mardena Talburt with 33 percent.
