
All races in Boone County were city races.
Linda Miracle will be the new mayor of Diamond City after securing 57 percent of the votes. Al E. Stiff came up short with 43 percent. Miracle will succeed Troy Hudson who was appointed by the city council to finish the term of Jan Hudson. The council accepted Hudson’s June letter of resignation August 16th. Prosecutors charged Hudson with felony theft in May.
Charles L. Grimes was named to Diamond City’s Ward 3, Position 1 after he captured 52 percent of the votes. Grimes defeated Shirley Akins with 48 percent.
The race for Ward 2, Position 2 will head to a runoff between Kenneth Bollinger and Cheryl Guthrie. Bollinger garnered 39 percent of the votes, and Guthrie finished with 35 percent. Barbara Mitchell was eliminated with 26 percent.
Lead Hill ended up electing a new mayor. Challenger Cale Thompson won the race with 68 percent of the votes. Incumbent Joe Inman got 32 percent.
Another incumbent was defeated in her re-election bid. Frances Hudspeth will be Lead Hill’s new recorder/treasurer after scoring 68 percent of the tally. Kaye Farrar finished with 32 percent.
Edwin Farmer avoided a runoff to win Ward 4, Position 1 on the Lead Hill City Council with 54 percent of the votes. Adam Laneau garnered 31 percent, and Mike Farrar scored 15 percent.
Harrison will have a new mayor at the start of the new year. Challenger Jerry Jackson ended up with 55 percent of the votes to topple incumbent Dan Sherrell with 45 percent.
Harrison’s two city council races went to the incumbent.
Heath Kirkpatrick will remain the Ward 3, Position 2 alderman with 68 percent of the votes. Challenger Daniella Scott finished with 32 percent.
Ward 4, Position 1 was retained by Joel Williams who secured 68 percent of the votes. Challenger Lawton Coonts ended up with 32 percent.
A new mayor will represent Alpena in 2019. Challenger Theron McCammond will take the seat after getting 56 percent of the votes. Bobbie R. Bailey ended up with 44 percent.
Two incumbents were successful in the city races in South Lead Hill.
Kris Farmer will remain in the mayor’s office after finishing with 75 percent of the votes. Challenger Howard W. Pinkerton garnered 25 percent.
Fern Cain will remain South Lead Hill’s Position 1 alderman with 68 percent of the votes. Challenger Carey Tucker ended up with 32 percent.
In Zinc, Jacob Stagley was elected to be the Position 3 alderman with 64 percent of the votes. Lois McDonald had 36 percent.
Bergman selected a new Position 5 alderman. Challenger Jason King secured 66 percent of the tally to defeat incumbent Justin Willis with 34 percent.
Omaha will have a new Position 1 alderman on its city council. Challenger Michael Sylvester Roberts secured 72 percent of the votes to beat incumbent Emmett Fickes with 28 percent.
