
Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday schedule as both of Mountain Home’s high school teams will be in tournament play.
The Bomber boys will start the first of their three in-season tournaments in Van Buren. Mountain Home will play the first game of the Citizens Bank and Trust Tournament as they meet Subiaco Academy.
The Bombers are currently 1-0 on the season. Mountain Home began its campaign over two weeks ago by going to Searcy and defeating Riverview.
Tip-off at Clair Bates Arena is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Lady Bombers will be back in Missouri for its semifinal game of the Fair Grove Girls’ Basketball Invitational Tournament. Mountain Home will be paired with Clever.
The Lady Bombers bring a 2-0 record into the game after starting the tournament Monday with a 20-point win over Buffalo. The Lady Jays advanced to the semifinals following a three-point victory over Lebanon.
Gametime is set for 5:30.

The semifinals of the Equity Bank Bev Stone Border Classic will be held at Omaha. In girls’ action, Lead Hill and Western Grove tip off at 4:00, and Flippin faces the host Lady Eagles at 6:30. On the boys’ side, Flippin takes on Western Grove at 5:15, and Omaha plays Kingston at 7:45.
Three local teams will contine action in the fifth-annual Fordland Invitational Tournament. In the girls’ games, Lutie gets underway at 4:00 against Galena, and Dora meets the host Lady Eagles at 7:00. Lutie’s boys will be paired with New Covenant Academy at 5:30.
The Dora boys will get back to action in the River Country Chevrolet Classic at Thayer with two games against Willow Springs. The junior varsity game tips off at 5:15 followed by the varsity contest at 6:30.
Izard County’s boys will be in Jonesboro for their first game in the 34th-annual Barry Pruitt Hurricane Classic. The Cougars will face North Little Rock at 4:00 at the Don Riggs Memorial Gymnasium.
In other high school basketball, Gainesville travels to Koshkonong, and Melbourne hosts Highland.
Mountain Home’s freshmen squads will be in front of the home crowd as they take on West Memphis West. The girls’ game tips off at 5:00 followed by the boys’ contest.
Elsewhere on the junior high level, Marshall makes the trip to Jasper.
