
Izard County’s boys were able to bounce back from Thursday’s opening loss in the Barry Pruitt Hurricane Classic at Jonesboro as they advanced to the consolation final with a 66-57 victory over Pine Bluff on Friday. Justus Cooper paced the Cougars with 36 points and 25 rebounds, Caleb Faulkner had 12 points, and Coby Everett finished with ten points. Izard County improves to 13-1.
Valley Springs was able two sweep Warren to open the annual Mini-State at Drew Central High School in Monticello. The Lady Tigers beat up on the Lady Lumberjacks 55-28, and Valley Springs squeaked by Warren 69-67 in the boys’ contest.
Cotter’s boys had a rough Homecoming night. The Warriors fell to Viola by a final of 66-46.
Flippin picked up a pair of high school victories over Haas Hall Academy in Fayetteville. The Lady Bobcats invoked the mercy rule with a 49-18 decision over the Lady Mastiffs. Flippin also won the boys’ game 74-70.
Yellville-Summit suffered a pair of losses at Deer. The Panthers were edged out by the Antlers 53-51 in the boys’ game. Deer also took the girls’ contest 49-39.
The Bruno-Pyatt boys had a tough night on their home floor. The Patriots fell to Calico Rock 76-47.
Gainesville’s boys also suffered a loss in front of their home crowd. The Bulldogs lost to Bradleyville 50-43.
The Salem boys picked up a conference win on their home court. The Greyhounds topped Riverside 51-37.
Mammoth Spring was able to pick up a pair of league victories as they hosted Armorel.
The Bears routed the Tigers 72-34 in the boys’ game. Jacob Golden was Mammoth Spring’s top scorer with 21 points, Alex Mero ended up with 19, and Cole Young added 15. The Bears improve to 5-6 overall and 2-0 in the 1A-3, and they’ll meet Couch on Tuesday as they host the Battle of the Border Tournament.
Earlier in the evening, Mammoth Spring’s girls beat Armorel 50-32. Stephine Henry led the Lady Bears with 26 points, and Lauren Mitchell chipped in 12. Mammoth Spring is now 5-4 and 1-1, and their first game in their tournament will be Monday against Bakersfield.
Melbourne’s boys were unable to get a conference win Friday in Monette. The Bearkatz fell to Buffalo Island Central 51-39.
The Timbo High School teams had mixed results as they hosted Sacred Heart. The Tigers got past the Rebels 63-60 in the boys’ game. Timbo was not as fortunate in the girls’ contest as they lost to Sacred Heart 59-47.
Mountain View’s high school squads ended up with a split at Bergman. The Lady Yellowjackets defeated the Lady Panthers 56-42. It was a different result in the boys’ game as Mountain View fell to Bergman 65-35.
Rural Special lost a pair of high school basketball games as they hosted Concord. The girls’ game ended with the Lady Rebels losing to the Lady Pirates 68-64. Concord also won the boys’ game 54-35.
Jasper went to Bentonville and won two high school games over the Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy. The Lady Pirates pounded the Lady Spartans 57-14. Jasper later dominated the boys’ game 64-20.
Mountain Home was able to pick up a sweep in three junior high girls’ games at Highland.
The freshmen game needed overtime as the Junior Lady Bombers edged out the Junior Lady Rebels 27-25. Mountain Home was led by Kamryn Mullins with ten points. The Junior Lady Bombers improve to 4-3 on the season.
It was all Mountain Home in the eighth grade contest as they beat Highland 30-7. Lexi Rauls was the Eighth Grade Lady Bombers’ leading scorer with 11 points. Mountain Home is now 2-2 on the year.
Mountain Home began the evening by winning the seventh grade game 27-23. Ashlyn Estes paced the Seventh Grade Lady Bombers with 14 points. Mountain Home’s record now stands at 5-2.
Mountain Home Christian Academy swept three games at home as they hosted RUSH from Nixa.
The Eagles picked up a 71-65 victory in the varsity boys’ game. Mountain Home Christian was led by Cooper Long with 18 points, and Bradley Taylor added 15.
Mountain Home Christian had a pair of double doubles in the varsity girls’ game as they beat RUSH 48-43. Naomi Spray had 33 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Eagles, and Hayley Woods scored 14 points and grabbed ten rebounds.
The night began with Mountain Home Christian destroying RUSH 62-12 in the junior varsity boys’ game. Landon Jines was the J.V. Eagles’ top scorer with 13 points, and Gideon Spray added 11.
