NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – Police say no one was injured after a standoff
shut down an interstate ramp for more than an hour Wednesday in central
Arkansas.

Little Rock police say the incident began when officers responded to a report
of shots being fired at a Walmart parking lot in west Little Rock. No one was
struck by gunfire, but police said a man then got into a white SUV with two
children and drove off.

Officers pursued the man onto Interstate 430 in North Little Rock, and he
eventually stopped on an exit ramp. A nearby elementary school was put on
lockdown as a precaution, but police said the man eventually surrendered without
incident. The two children in the vehicle weren’t harmed.

Authorities have not yet released the man’s name.
