
The North Arkansas College Invitational Senior High Tournament held its semifinal round at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison.
Norfork’s girls are one win away from capturing their third consecutive tournament title. The Lady Panthers defeated Jasper 71-51.
Norfork’s last opponent in the tournament will be Valley Springs. The Lady Tigers topped Alpena by a final of 59-50.
Bergman was eliminated from the boys’ bracket. The Panthers fell to Western Grove 77-62.
The Warriors will be paired with Valley Springs in the title game. The Tigers beat Deer 68-58.
Gainesville’s girls advanced to the consolation final of the Sparta Lady Trojans Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs squeaked by the host team 44-42.
The Gainesville boys did not fare as well as their female counterparts. The Bulldogs suffered a 54-47 loss at Conway.
The Mammoth Spring High School teams were able to pick up a sweep at Armorel.
The Bears invoked the mercy rule in the boys’ game as they routed the Tigers 59-28. Alex Mero was Mammoth Spring’s top scorer with 14 points, Cole Young and Daniel Mayfield each had 12, and Zack Flynn added 11. The Bears improve to 13-9 on the season and 5-0 in the 1A-3.
Mammoth Spring also beat Armorel in the girls’ contest by a final score of 49-45. Stephine Henry paced the Lady Bears with 24 points, Lauren Mitchell scored 13, and Terra Godwin chipped in ten. Mammoth Spring is now 10-9 overall and 3-1 in the league.
Calico Rock’s high school teams had mixed results as they hosted Lead Hill. The Pirates won the boys’ game over the Tigers 68-35. The girls’ game had a different result as Calico Rock fell to Lead Hill 55-50.
The Izard County High School squads ended up with a split at Mount Vernon-Enola.
The Cougars took the boys’ game over the Warhawks 63-47. Izard was led by Caleb Faulkner with 21 points, Justus Cooper had 17, and Coby Everett added 15. The Cougars are now 21-4 on the season.
Izard County was not as fortunate in the girls’ contest as they fell to Mount Vernon-Enola 67-31. The Lady Cougars drop to 13-8 on the year.
Melbourne had mixed results as they hosted a pair of high school games against Marmaduke. The Lady Bearkatz topped the Lady Greyhounds 64-43. Melbourne’s boys did not fare as well as they were edged out by Marmaduke 55-52.
Rural Special also came away with a Friday night split as they hosted Guy-Perkins. The Lady Rebels picked up a 66-59 victory over the Lady Thunderbirds. Rural Special had a different result in the boys’ game as they lost to Guy-Perkins 80-54.
Mountain Home Christian Academy was able to go on the road and sweep three games over Mountain Grove Christian Academy.
The Eagles won the varisty boys’ game 80-66. Caleb Spray led Mountain Home Christian with 22 points and 22 rebounds, Matt Woods had 22 points, and Cooper Long finished with 19 points.
Mountain Home Christian’s varsity girls won a close game over Mountain Grove Christian 34-31. Hayley Woods was the Lady Eagles’ leading scorer with 18 points.
The evening began with the 14-and-under boys’ game as Mountain Home Christian pounded Mountain Grove Christian 60-23. The 14-and-under Eagles were led by Trenton Cox with 22 points, and Landon Jines ended up with 14.
