
A Baxter County man has been arrested on several felony drug charges following a traffic stop Saturday night. Sixty-four-year-old Randy William Vaught of Henderson is free on bond but faces a total of seven charges including several felonies.
According to the arrest affidavit from the Arkansas State Police, a trooper made a traffic stop on the vehicle Vaught was driving on County Road 28 because the brake lights were not working. The trooper asked Vaught if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and Vaught admitted there was a gun behind the seat.
During a search of the vehicle, the trooper located the .22 caliber handgun with a loaded magazine and one round in the chamber. He also found a Red Bull can which turned out to be a stash can. Inside the can was a baggie with a crystal substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine along with marijuana.
Vaught is charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms; misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia; along two traffic violations.
Vaught is free after posting $20,000 bond.
