A man has died in a mobile home fire in Boone County while trying to rescue pets inside the structure. The Harrison Daily Times reports 28-year-old Cody Raulston died in the blaze in the Zinc community Tuesday evening.

Boone County Sheriff Mike Moore says Raulston was at a neighbor’s house with the owner of the mobile home. The two started fighting the blaze before fire fighters arrived. The sheriff says Raulston apparently went into the burning mobile home to save some dogs inside but never came out.

What is believed to be Raulston’s body was found in the burned structure and has been sent to the state crime lab for identification and cause of death.

A Bergman fire fighter was injured battling the blaze when a propane cylinder exploded.

The sheriff says the investigation into the fire continues.
