David M. Russell/Disney ABC Home Entertainment and Television DistributionUsually when artists perform in New York’s Times Square, it’s on New Year’s Eve.  But this June, Melissa Etheridge will rock the “Crossroads of the World” during the Closing Ceremony of WorldPride 2019.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, which started the gay civil rights movement in the U.S.  In honor of the occasion, WorldPride is being held in America for the first time, and New York City has been chosen as the location for the month-long LGBTQIA+ celebration.

“That night, Times Square will serve as a home to a multitude of LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies on a truly momentous evening of love, pride, and community — capping what I’m sure will be an extraordinary month of celebrations,” says Etheridge in a statement.

Melissa is one of many artists who’ll be performing at the free Closing Ceremony event, which starts at 7 p.m. ET on June 30. Visit WorldPride’s website for more information.
