
WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (AP) – Arkansas State Police say two people were killed in a
shooting involving an eastern Arkansas police officer, who was also injured.
A state police news release says only that the shooting Wednesday night
involved a West Memphis police officer and that the injured officer’s condition
is unknown.
No names have been released.
The release said results of a state police investigation will be turned over to
the local prosecutor and that no additional information will be released
Thursday.
West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon said in a statement to WMC-TV in Memphis
that his prayers are with the injured officers and victims and that he is
waiting for information.
McClendon said he is currently in Little Rock attending an Arkansas Municipal
League Conference.
