KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – A 46-year-old Arkansas man is facing federal drug
charges after law enforcement authorities became suspicious of the big shoes he
had with him.

Willie Lewis Braison caught the attention of DEA agents and police Thursday
after he got off an Amtrak train in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Star reports court documents say Braison had packed size 18
high top tennis shoes in his luggage, much larger than the shoes he was wearing.

Prosecutors say packages of heroin were molded like insoles inside each
oversized shoe. Agents reported recovering about 3 pounds of heroin. They also
found 5 pound of methamphetamine in his luggage.

Braison, of Jonesboro, is charged possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

He told investigators he was paid $2,500 to take a suitcase from Los Angeles to
St. Louis.
