High school basketball makes up the local Friday schedule as Mountain Home will be in Jonesboro. Conference play continues for the Bombers and Lady Bombers as they meet Nettleton.
Mountain Home’s girls are currently 10-7 on the season and 2-2 in the 5A-East. The Lady Bombers are coming off a 15-point win over Marion. Nettleton is currently ranked second in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media and sixth in the state overall. The Lady Raiders are 15-1 and 4-0 after beating Paragould on Tuesday.
The Mountain Home boys are 6-10 overall and 1-3 in the league. The Bombers were edged out by Marion three nights ago. Nettleton is 9-4 and 3-1. The Raiders defeated Paragould earlier this week.
The junior varsity games tip off at 4:30. The varsity contests begin around 6:00 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Elsewhere in the 5A-East, Searcy hosts Jonesboro, Paragould travels to West Memphis, and Greene County Tech makes the trip to Marion.
The Viola girls play for the championship of the Thayer Winter Classic. The Lady Longhorns take on the host Lady Bobcats in a battle of state ranked teams. Mammoth Spring will face Willow Springs for 3rd place.
Both of Bakersfield’s teams will wrap up play in the Cabool Classic as they face the host Bulldogs. The Lions will play for the boys’ championship in the new gym, and the Bakersfield girls will compete for third place in the old gym. Both games tip off at 7 p.m.
Mammoth Spring’s boys will take part in the semifinals of the Liberty Invitational Varsity Tournament in Mountain View, Missouri. The Bears take on Eminence at 7:00.
In other high school basketball, Cotter heads to Flippin, Norfork travels to Omaha, Yellville-Summit makes the trip to Marshall, Bruno-Pyatt entertains Oark for Senior Night, the Gainesville boys are home against Lutie, Salem hosts Bay, Calico Rock heads to Lead Hill, Izard County travels to St. Joe, Melbourne entertains Sloan-Hendrix, Timbo makes the trip to Morrilton to play Sacred Heart, Mountain View heads to Green Forest, Rural Special travels to Concord, Bergman makes the trip to Rose Bud, Valley Springs is home against Clinton for Homecoming, and Jasper heads to Alpena.
