
Bakersfield played their final games in the Cabool Classic on Friday as they split with the host teams. The Lions came up short in the boys’ championship game as they fell to the Bulldogs 54-48. Bakersfield finished in third place on the girls’ bracket as they topped Cabool 55-50.
Viola fell short of the Thayer Winter Classic title following a battle between state-ranked teams. The Lady Longhorns lost to the host Lady Bobcats 62-40.
Mammoth Spring ended up in fourth place after getting beat by Willow Springs 83-66. Lauren Mitchell was the Lady Bears’ top scorer with 22 points, Terra Godwin finished with 18, and Megyn Upton ended up with 13. Mammoth Spring falls to 11-12 on the year.
Mammoth Spring’s had a tough outing in Mountain View, Missouri, as they competed in the semifinals of the Liberty Invitational Varsity Tournament. The Bears lost to Eminence 77-62. Jacob Golden led Mammoth Spring with 21 points, Alex Mero scored 14, and Devon Cray added 13. The Bears drop to 15-11 on the season.
Cotter’s high school basketball teams were swept Friday at Flippin. The Lady Warriors suffered their first loss in the 2A-1 as they fell to the Lady Bobcats 61-51. The Cotter boys later fell to Flippin 53-37.
Norfork split a pair of high school games at Omaha. The Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Eagles 80-45. It was a different result in the boys’ contest as Norfork lost to Omaha 74-45.
Yellville-Summit had mixed results at Marshall. The Panthers picked up a 74-59 victory over the Bobcats in the boys’ game. Yellville-Summit’s girls did not fare as well as they fell to Marshall 53-30.
The Gainesville boys picked up another win on their home floor. The Bulldogs defeated Lutie 72-48.
It was a bad night at home for Salem’s boys. The Greyhounds ended up losing to Bay 48-23.
Calico Rock went on the road and came away with a split at Lead Hill. The Pirates took the boys’ game over the Tigers 66-39. The Calico Rock girls were not as fortunate as they fell to Lead Hill 48-27.
Izard County swept a pair of games at St. Joe.
In the senior boys’ game, the Cougars clinched a regional tournament berth with a 63-28 victory over the Wildcats. Izard County was led by Noah Everett with 17 points. The Cougars improve to 26-4 on the season and 13-0 in the 1A-2.
Izard County’s junior girls began the evening by topping St. Joe 38-24. Delilah Coulter was the Junior Lady Cougars’ leading scorer with 12 points, and Ava Lewis chipped in 11.
The Timbo High School teams were swept by Sacred Heart at Morrilton. The Tigers were edged out by the Rebels 58-54 in the boys’ game. Timbo’s girls also fell to Sacred Heart 53-45.
The Mountain View boys’ Friday road trip did not fare well. The Yellowjackets lost to Green Forest 51-38.
Rural Special had mixed results at Concord. The Lady Rebels topped the Lady Pirates 66-54. It was a different result in the boys’ game as Rural Special fell to Concord 60-24.
Bergman finished the evening with a split at Rose Bud. The Panthers beat up on the Ramblers 63-43. Bergman did not have as much luck in the girls’ contest as they lost to Rose Bud 62-44.
Valley Springs was able to sweep its Homecoming games over Clinton. The Lady Tigers toppled the Lady Yellowjackets 62-44. Valley Springs wrapped up the night with a 67-60 victory in the girls’ game.
Jasper ended up with mixed results at home against Alpena. The Pirates defeated the Leopards 56-47 in the boys’ contest. Jasper’s girls suffered a 73-69 loss to Alpena.
Mountain Home Christian Academy swept a pair of boys’ games at home over Ozark Christian Academy.
The Eagles dominated the varsity game with an 80-31 decision. Bradley Taylor paced Mountain Home Christian with 23 points, and Caleb Spray had 17.
Mountain Home Christian also won the 14-and-under boys’ game 56-45. The 14-and-under Eagles were led by Trenton Cox with 27 points, and Gideon Spray added 12.
