
Basketball makes up much of the local Tuesday schedule as the Mountain Home High School teams play their last home games of the month. The Bombers and Lady Bombers are set to welcome Searcy to Bomber Gymnasium.
Mountain Home’s girls are currently 10-8 on the season and 2-3 in the 5A-East. The Lady Bombers are coming off a loss to Nettleton Friday in Jonesboro. Searcy is 5-13 and 0-5. The Lady Lions, in their first year under head coach Kim Sitzmann, suffered a 12-point defeat to Jonesboro.
The Mountain Home boys are 6-11 overall and 1-4 in the league. The Bombers ended up losing to Nettleton on Friday. Searcy is 8-10 and 1-4. The Lions fell to Jonesboro to wrap up the previous week.
The girls’ game tips off at 6 p.m. followed by the boys’ contest. Both games can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. The junior varsity games have been cancelled.
Elsewhere in the 5A-East, Jonesboro hosts Nettleton, Paragould entertains Marion, and Greene County Tech is home against West Memphis.
Two area boys’ teams will play their openers in the Sparta Trojans Basketball Classic. Gainesville meets Fair Grove at 6:00, and Forsyth faces Sparta at 7:30.
Dora will begin competing in the Liberty Girls Tournament at Mountain View, Missouri. The Lady Falcons take on Hartville at 7:30.
In other high school basketball, Cotter hosts Haas Hall Academy, Norfork entertains Calico Rock, Yellville-Summit is home against Decatur, Lutie hosts Greenwood, Viola travels to Brockwell to face Izard County, Salem makes the trip to Rector for three boys’ games, Mammoth Spring entertains KIPP: Delta-Blytheville, Melbourne heads to Lake City for two boys’ games with Riverside, St. Joe is home against Western Grove, Marshall hosts Mountain View, Timbo entertains Rural Special, Lead Hill travels to Omaha, Bergman is home against Guy-Perkins, Valley Springs makes the trip to Green Forest, and Jasper heads to Kingston.
Prior to the games between Viola and Izard County, the Cougar Den will host a game in the Izard County Invitational Basketball Tournament. The junior boys’ game between Mammoth Spring and Izard County will tip off at 3:30.
