
Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday schedule and includes some area teams continuing tournament play.
Dora will continue pool play in the Liberty Girls Tournament at Mountain View, Missouri. The Lady Falcons face the host Lady Eagles at 7:30.
Pool play also resumes for Dora’s boys in the Family Pharmacy Panther Classic at Mountain Grove. The Falcons take on the host team at 6 p.m.
The Izard County Invitational Basketball Tournament will get back underway at Melbourne. Action tips off at 4:00 as Melbourne’s junior boys play Cave City, and the Calico Rock senior girls will be paired with Melbourne at 5:15. Two senior boys’ games will follow as Izard County meets Cave City at 6:45, and Calico Rock face Highland at 8:15.
In other high school basketball, Bakersfield’s girls travel to Cabool, the Gainesville girls make the trip to Thayer, Mammoth Spring heads to Lynn to take on Hillcrest, Timbo travels to Mount Vernon-Enola, Rural Special hosts Shirley, and Bergman entertains Clinton.
It’s Royalty Night for Mountain Home Junior High School as they host Greene County Tech for five games on the high school campus. The eighth grade girls’ game tips off at 4:00 in the Hangar followed by the freshmen girls, the Royalty presentation and the freshmen boys. The seventh grade girls’ game will start at 4:00 in the auxiliary gym, and the eighth grade boys’ contest will follow.
Elsewhere on the junior high level, Cotter is home against Flippin, Yellville-Summit makes the trip to Valley Springs, and Marshall heads to Green Forest.
