In high school basketball Thursday night, the top ranked class 1A boy’s team in the state, Izard County, advanced to the championship game of the Izard County Invitational Tournament at Melbourne. The Cougars got 23 points and 15 rebounds from Justus Cooper as they beat Cave City 59-41. Coby Everett added 17 points and Caleb Faulkner had 14. Izard County improves to 28-4.
Mammoth Spring lost both senior high games against Hillcrest.
Hillcrest wins the senior boy’s game 53-32. Jacob Golden paced the Bears with 10 points as they fall to 16-12.
Hillcrest topped Mammoth Spring in the girl’s contest 42-31. The Lady Bears are now 11-13.
Cotter won a pair of junior high girl’s games against Flippin.
The Junior Lady Warriors posted a 43-20 win. Kate Cheek scored 17 and Morgan Zick had 14 for Cotter.
Cotter won the 7th grade girl’s game 16-8.
