
The Gainesville High School boys’ basketball team suffered their second loss in the Sparta Trojans Basketball Classic on Friday. The Bulldogs fell to the host team 57-46 in the consolation semifinals.
Flippin’s high school teams were swept at Eureka Springs. The Lady Bobcats fell to the Lady Highlanders 39-26. Flippin’s boys ended the night with a 55-34 loss to Eureka Springs.
The Yellville-Summit boys had a dominating win at Fayetteville. The Panthers beat up on Haas Hall Academy 68-39.
Bruno-Pyatt’s boys had a rough outing on the road. The Patriots fell to Calico Rock 58-21.
The Viola High School teams had a split at home with Omaha. The Lady Longhorns topped the Lady Eagles 61-34. Viola had a different result in the boys’ game as they lost to Omaha 75-64.
Salem’s girls were able to pick up a victory on the road. The Lady Greyhounds went to Monette and beat Buffalo Island Central 42-31.
Izard County came away with a three-game sweep at home over Western Grove.
In the senior boys’ game, the Cougars clinched the 1A-2 conference championship outright with an 86-58 decision over the Warriors. Coby Everett was Izard County’s top scorer with 28 points, Caleb Faulkner finished with 19, Justus Cooper ended up with 18, and Dylan Tharp added 15 points. The Cougars improve to 29-4 on the year and 15-0 in the league.
Izard County also won the senior girls’ contest over Western Grove 57-45. Bethany Simmons paced the Lady Cougars with 24 points, and Ashlynn Bratcher chipped in 13. Izard County is now 18-13 on the season and 9-6 in conference action.
Landon McBride hit a 25-footer with 1.4 seconds left in double overtime of the junior boys’ game to push Izard County past Western Grove 49-47. The Junior Cougars were led by McBride with 24 points, and Gunner Gleghorn scored 13. Izard County’s record is now 10-7 overall and 3-3 in the 1A-2.
The Melbourne boys suffered another loss on their home floor. The Bearkatz fell to Bay 67-62.
Marshall’s high school teams were swept at Valley Springs. The Lady Bobcats lost to the Lady Tigers 52-32. The night wasn’t any better for the Marshall boys as they fell to Valley Springs 73-48.
The Lead Hill High School teams had mixed results as they hosted Deer. The Lady Tigers invoked the mercy rule as they pounded the Lady Antlers 73-41. Lead Hill’s boys were not as fortunate as they lost to Deer 59-33.
Bergman ended up splitting with the School of the Ozarks in Point Lookout. The Lady Panthers beat up on the Lady Patriots 43-20. The Bergman boys were edged out by the School of the Ozarks 56-55.
Mountain Home Christian Academy came away with two wins as they played three games against RUSH in Nixa.
The Eagles took the varsity boys’ game 72-51. Cooper Long was Mountain Home Christian’s leading scorer with 44 points, and Matt Woods and Caleb Spray chipped in ten points each.
Mountain Home Christian’s varsity girls were not as fortunate as they fell to RUSH 61-47. Naomi Spray led the Lady Eagles with 18 points, and Hayley Woods had ten points and ten rebounds.
Mountain Home Christian dominated the 14-and-under boys’ game as they destroyed RUSH 69-12. The 14-and-under Eagles were led by Trenton Cox with 24 points.
