The Mountain Home High School basketball teams wrapped up the first half of conference play with mixed results Friday at West Memphis.
The Lady Bombers were able to edge out the Lady Blue Devils 24-22. Both teams struggled shooting for much of the night, especially West Memphis as all eight of their first half points came from Aryah Hazley. Mountain Home built a 21-10 lead in the third quarter, but the Lady Blue Devils went on a 12-1 run to tie the game late in the final period. After taking the inbound pass, Kate Gilbert drove the length of the floor for the Lady Bombers and was fouled on a layup attempt with 5 1/2 seconds left. Gilbert sank both free throws to put Mountain Home back on top. Hazley took the ensuing inbound pass and lost the ball after crossing the time line. The ball went out of bounds with 2/10 of a second remaining, and the Lady Bombers inbounded it one more time to run out the clock.
Payton Huskey led Mountain Home with 11 points. For West Memphis, Hazley scored 16.
The Lady Bombers improve to 12-8 on the season and 4-3 in the 5A-East. The Lady Blue Devils fall to 10-7 and 3-4.

The Blue Devils were up three at the end of the first half, but they began the third quarter on a 14-3 run. West Memphis had a double digit lead for much of the second half, and they went on to win by nine.
