A man wanted on felony sexual assault charges in Boone County involving a 5-year-old victim made his first appearance in circuit court Friday, entering a not guilt plea. He had been listed on the Most Wanted list on the Boone County Sheriff’s Office website.

Online court records indicate 30-year-old William Lee Alvis II, whose address is not listed, is charged with three counts of rape, two counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of sexually grooming a child.

Various news outlets report Alvis was taken into custody earlier this month in Madison County, Iowa and described as a “fugitive of justice.” He was reportedly arrested without incident.

During Friday’s appearance, the court took up the issue of Alvis’ bond. Online records indicate bond was set at $40,000, with $10,000 as cash and $30,000 as cash or professional. Alvis was ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
